What’s working

My marketing report says we’re doing great. Why doesn’t it feel that way?

Activity can be up while the business is not getting better. The definition of working has to include the business.

Short answer

Your marketing team and your business may be using two different definitions of “working.”

The full answer

It is usually a few things working together.

A report can show more impressions, clicks, leads, or a lower cost per lead while your calendar is still thin and your sales are flat. Those numbers can be useful signals, but they are not the finish line.

The owner and marketer need a shared definition of success: calls from the right people, appointments that show up, customers, revenue, or whatever actually moves your business forward.

Where we would start

Bring the conversation back to the business. Agree on the outcomes that matter, check lead quality, and make reporting a tool for better decisions instead of a performance theater.
